When holidays are moved and weekends become working days, subtracting weekends is not enough
Business days depend on both the weekly schedule and date-specific exceptions. Additional days off and working-day overrides need separate records.
Business days calculator →Apply exceptions to one example week
From 2026-10-19 through 2026-10-25, a standard Saturday-Sunday weekend leaves five business days. Mark October 21 as an additional day off and the count becomes four. Then mark Saturday October 24 as a working-day override and it returns to five. The same calendar range can therefore produce different valid counts under different schedules.
Prevent contradictory entries
A date cannot be both an additional day off and a working-day override. Organize the relevant official or company schedule first, using complete YYYY-MM-DD dates. Enter the arrangement for the actual year rather than assuming that every holiday or compensating workday repeats on the same date annually. The calculator cannot resolve conflicting source instructions for you.
A day count is not a total-hours calculation
Five working dates may contain five eight-hour shifts or a mixture of different durations. Use the work-hours calculator for each shift if a total duration is needed. This tool does not determine which labor regime applies or whether an imposed schedule is lawful. It applies the calendar settings supplied. Preserve those settings with the output so the count can be audited independently of any employment-policy question.
