A low car payment may hide a final balloon payment
A fully amortizing loan repays principal over its scheduled term. Vehicle finance with a final balloon or purchase option has a different cash-flow pattern and cannot be judged by the monthly bill alone.

Some agreements defer part of the vehicle cost to the final date. The basic auto-loan calculator does not automatically model a balloon, guaranteed future value or ownership option. Check the final payment and the conditions for obtaining ownership before comparing its output with a finance advertisement. A different payment structure needs a separate reconciliation.
Compare two zero-interest structures
Imagine financing 24,000 for 36 months at zero interest with 6,000 left as a final balloon. If the other 18,000 is repaid across the 36 monthly instalments, those instalments are 500 each, with the 6,000 still due at the end. A fully amortizing zero-interest loan instead requires 24,000/36, approximately 666.67 per month. The 500 payment is not evidence of a lower vehicle price; it reflects deferred repayment.
Plan for the final decision
Read the cash-purchase, refinancing or return options, including mileage, condition and fee provisions where applicable. If you intend to settle in cash, a savings-goal calculation can help plan the balloon amount. It cannot guarantee eligibility for future refinancing. The illustration excludes interest, taxes and charges and should not be interpreted as the terms of a particular product.
